Cross-Country Skiing

Explore up to 120 km of Cross-Country Ski Trails in Syöte – A Winter Paradise in Finnish Lapland

A scenic 3 km cross-country ski trail begins right from the courtyard of Hotel Iso-Syöte, circling the summit of Finland’s southernmost fell. The route winds through snowy forests and among trees heavy with crown snow, offering stunning views and peaceful silence.

As you glide along forested trails or skirt the base of the fells, you’ll feel fully immersed in the Arctic landscape. Syöte’s ancient hills and frosted trees paint a picture of traditional Nordic skiing at its purest. A unique feature of this region is its open bogland areas – these frozen wilderness trails open after the first deep frost and are maintained until around Easter.

Whether you prefer classic or freestyle skiing, Syöte offers well-groomed trails suitable for every level. From gentle, family-friendly loops to more demanding fell routes for seasoned skiers, there’s something for everyone. Cozy rest areas invite you to take a break and enjoy hot drinks in the midst of nature.

With up to 120 kilometers of ski trails, Syöte is a top destination for cross-country skiing in Finland, combining untouched wilderness, challenging terrain, and breathtaking views.
