Hotel Iso-Syöte offers both snowmobile safaris, which focus on exploring the surroundings, and combination safaris, where you drive a snowmobile to a husky farm, a reindeer camp, or a lake for ice fishing.

Snowmobile Safari to Wilderness

The safari begins at the hotel, where the snowmobiles are lined up and ready to go. The route starts with a downhill track, then continues along the fells, through forests with snow-laden trees, and across ice-covered swamps and lakes. We’ll pause for a coffee break by a campfire. After the break, we’ll start the snowmobiles again and drive back up the Iso-Syöte hill.

Visit by Snowmobiles to a Reindeer Camp

A snowmobile safari takes you through snowy forests and across ice-covered lakes to a reindeer camp, where visitors will have the chance to ride in a sled pulled by a reindeer. Hot drinks and pulla are served in the kota while the reindeer herder shares stories about reindeer and the traditions of reindeer herding

Snowmobile Safari & Husky Safari 6 km

The safari starts from Hotel Iso-Syöte by snowmobile, leading to the place where the huskies eagerly await visitors. After an introduction to the huskies and a brief instruction session, you’ll take off with the huskies energetically pulling your sled. The safari route winds through snowy forests and across ice-covered swamps in the Syöte area. There will be stops along the way to switch drivers and take pictures.

Snowmobile Safari to a Frozen Lake and Ice Fishing

We start from the hotel by snowmobile, traveling through the forest to reach a frozen lake. Upon arrival, we’ll use the gear to drill holes in the ice and enjoy ice fishing on this picturesque lake. A coffee break by an open fire will add to the experience. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel by snowmobile.

Wildfood and Wilderness 

Embark on an exhilarating snowmobile safari through the forests and hills of the Syöte region, journeying towards a traditional farm known for its mushrooms, garlic, and herbs. Experience the untouched beauty of nature as you steer your snowmobile through ancient forests and along the hillsides of Iso-Syöte en route to Naamanka. Immerse yourself in local culture upon arriving at the traditionally built farmhouse, where you’ll learn about the history of the building and the lifestyle of local farmers.

Your visit includes a presentation of Syöte Wildfood, showcasing the region’s natural bounty: mushrooms, herbs, berries, and garlic. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase handmade products crafted from these local ingredients in the farm’s workshop.

The experience continues with a homemade lunch served in the farmhouse’s Pirtti, where you can taste the local flavors for yourself. The lunch includes a wild berry smoothie as a welcome drink, followed by a Lappish soup with reindeer meat (or a mushroom soup for vegans), accompanied by homemade bread with self-grown garlic butter. The meal is complemented by self-made berry juice and finishes with a sweet dessert made from local berries or spruce sprouts, served with coffee or chaga tea.

After lunch, the snowmobile safari takes you back to the hotel, concluding a day of adventure and authentic cultural experiences.

Full Day Snowmobile Adventure

A true snowmobile adventure: spend an entire day driving through snow-covered forests and diverse terrains. This challenging ride covers approximately 70-90 km. For the best experience and to fully enjoy the thrill of being an experienced driver, we recommend one person per snowmobile. Navigating uphill and downhill, making precise turns, and using your body weight add to the excitement. Admire the stunning surroundings and enjoy the ride! We’ll stop to make a campfire and have an outdoor lunch.
