Ski Resort Iso-Syöte

Ski Resort Iso-Syöte has 17 slopes that cater for all interests and abilities. If you do not have your own skis, ski boots or snowboard, it is no obstacle for experiencing the Iso-Syöte slopes –  you can rent equipment according to your needs.
Enjoy the joy of skiing in the cheerful company of Ski Resort Iso-Syöte’s skilled instructors. You can choose from a selection of instruction in cross country skiing, downhill- & telemark skiing and snowboarding. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, our experienced instructors provide you with a safe environment for learning.


Shop

Down the fell, next to the ski resort ticket office there is Tunturi Market for groceries and also souvenirs and some clothing. Find Tunturi Market on the map


Syöte National Park

A wide variety of services, throughout the year: Syöte National Park and the Visitor Centre, group tours, day trip huts and open wilderness huts, reservable huts, campfire sites and firewood, dry toilets and lean-to shelters.  Marked trekking routes and nature trails for day trips or for longer hikes. A canoe route, skiing trails and a snowshoeing track.


Rovaniemi and Santa´s village

Another excursion we can arrange for you is a daytrip to Rovaniemi. In this capital city of Lapland you can find the Arktikum museum (telling about the history, culture, nature and traditions of the inhabitants living around the Polar Circle). You can also visit the real geographical Polar Circle where the Santa Claus Village is located as well.


Arctic Zoo Ranua

“Meet and Greet” with the animals living in this area around the Polar Circle in the Ranua Wildlife Park. A forest park, open all year round, where you can see the animals which have their habitat in this northern region, like the brown bear, lynx, wolves, wolverine, owls, eagles, foxes, deer, elks, reindeer, polar bear etc.


Old museum and store “Jalavan Kauppa”

In the village of Taivalkoski (35 km away from Iso-Syöte) you can visit and old museum and store called Jalavan Kauppa. It is located in the middle of the village in a historical building (year 1883). Stepping in means a journey back in time. You can walk in freely, the entrance is free of charge indeed. The building itself, the different furnished rooms, all kind of equipments and supplies takes you back in ancient times.  The coffee is ready and the smell of fresh baked pastries fills your nose.  Welcome!


Pentik center Posio

If you are interested in Finnish design, housing textiles, glass and ceramic you should visit the Pentik center in Posio, about 70 km from Iso Syöte. Thers is a lot to see: A design atelier, ceramic shop, housing museum where you can see how people lived in the beginning of the century, coffee cup museum, historical ceramics etc. Entrance is free of charge.

Easy to reach

Hotel Iso-Syöte is located in the southern border of Lapland, on the top of the southernmost fell in Finland. The hotel is within easy reach by car or via Oulu, Kuusamo or Rovaniemi airports.
